50 years of nonlinear acoustics
Konstantin Naugolnykh
University of Colorado/Zeltech, Boulder, United States
Episodes of nonlinear acoustics history related to several topics are
discussed. Nonlinear evolution of finite amplitude wave, its distortion and weak
shock wave formation, nonlinear absorption of the high intensity wave. Nonlinear
wave propagation in a randomly inhomogeneous media, interaction of noises and
regular signals.
Parametric array theoretical models, experimental test and applications in ocean
and atmospheric sounding. Parametric acoustic array in oceanic waveguids.
High intensity sound propagation in microinhomogeneous solids and media with
complex structure, anomalous nonlinear parameter effect, frequency dependence of
the attenuation coefficient.
High-intensity focused ultrasound propagation in a tissue, nonlinear mechanism
of heating by high-intensity focused ultrasound, which is important for
ultrasound thermal therapy.
Intense acoustic pulses generation, cavitation, laser generated nonlinear pulses.
