On behalf of the Scientific Committee and the Finnish Society of
Gastroenterology, it is my great pleasure to welcome you and your colleagues to
The XXXIX Nordic Meeting of Gastroenterology in Helsinki, Finland, 4th-6th June
2008.
The Organizing Committee plans to offer a very dynamic and stimulating
scientific program. Sessions will cover various fields of the current
Gastroenterological medicine and surgery. I am convinced that the Congress will
be a suitable venue for exchanging and sharing ideas in the most recent
developments and getting newest information in many up-to-date topics in
gastroenterology, such as morbid obesity, neuroendocrine tumours, premalignant
conditions of gastrointestinal tract and pancreas.
During the meeting commercial exhibitions, poster presentations, luncheons and
coffee breaks will take place in the meeting spaces. I would like to take this
opportunity to invite you to attend them.
Helsinki itself is a modern, vibrant city with a metropolitan area population of
1 000 000, offering all the necessary services for travellers within a compact
area. Situated on the sea with a beautiful archipelago, numerous well-kept
parks, museums and art galleries, the colourful market place, shops and
restaurants make Helsinki a very pleasant city to visit, and further-more, it is
at its best in June. The Helsinki-Vantaa Airport is conveniently located only 20
kilometres from the city centre.
Come and enjoy also the beautiful surrounding countryside with its many Lakeland
areas!
