Successful ECTRIMS and ACTRIMS 2011 in Amsterdam

5th Joint Triennial Congress of the European and Americas Committees for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS & ACTRIMS)
The ECTRIMS / ACTRIMS 2011 meeting was hosted by the RAI Amsterdam Congress and Convention Centre from 19 – 22 October 2011 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. With more than 7’100 active participants from 94 international destinations, this year’s joint meeting was the largest and most successful in history. The number of submitted abstracts has increased by 20% with regards to the previous meeting in 2010, with a total number of 1’396 abstracts submitted.
Also the industrial exhibition has proudly grown to a total of 1’725 sold square meters, 18% increase compared to the previous year. The scientific programme offered participants plenary sessions, oral presentations of best abstracts and teaching courses on various MS related topics. In addition, sponsoring companies held a total of 10 satellite symposia which were very well attended by congress delegates.
With regards to sales of hotel rooms, the ECTRIMS has also been very successful. Congrex Travel sold a total of 3’256 rooms during the congress in Amsterdam.
In order to complete a successful day at the meeting, the ECTRIMS also organized a varied social programme in the evenings. The Welcome Reception took place on Wednesday at the recently renovated National Maritime Museum. On Friday, delegates had the opportunity of attending the official ECTRIMS / ACTRIMS Conference Dinner at the historical building of the Beurs van Berlage.
In all respects, the Joint Triennial ECTRIMS and ACTRIMS 2011 meeting in Amsterdam was another great success.
