Corporate Social Responsibility

As a leading professional management company, Congrex recognises the importance of good corporate citizenship and the way of thinking that takes into account a multiple bottom line beyond profit. Congrex has initiated an outreach programme with the sole objective of supporting both international and regional organisations which have local reach in their communities.

The programme signals Congrex’s commitment both globally and locally to care for individuals and organisations who are making a positive impact for a better world. Congrex and its group of companies are undertaking to contribute to these organisations operating in many countries and fields. The idea with the program is that different Congrex offices adopt an organisation or charity of choice and support it. The following organisations have received support within this program:

Doctors without borders

Every year, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) provides emergency medical care to millions of people caught in crises in nearly 60 countries around the world. MSF provides assistance when catastrophic events — such as armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, or natural disasters — overwhelm local health systems. MSF also assists people who face discrimination or neglect from their local health systems or when populations are otherwise excluded from health care.

Congrex Sweden

The Swedish Childhood Cancer Foundation is a non-profit association financed by donations and bequests. The Foundation receives no financial support from the state, county councils or municipalities.

Seven childhood cancer associations are members of the Swedish Childhood Cancer Foundation, and the Foundation acts to promote co-operation and co-ordination between these associations. One member and one deputy on the Swedish Childhood Cancer Foundation Board represents each of the seven associations. This Board is appointed by the annual general meeting, held early in the summer. To run its operations the Swedish Childhood Cancer Foundation has a secretariat managed by the acting chairman.

Meetings Industry Meeting Needs (MIMN) was founded by leading figures in the UK meetings and events industry to raise funds for worthy causes in the UK and overseas relevant to this industry sector. Where such causes do not have access to public funding, MIMN can provide financial support through various fund-raising events and activities.

Congrex Switzerland, Congrex Travel

"Tuwapende Watoto" is Kiswahili, the national language of Tanzania and means „we love children“. The foundation is an aid organisation for children in Dar es Salaam, Tansania and was founded by Monica Brunner and two other women in Switzerland in December 2004.

The project is at the moment about a children’s home where 16 abandoned children find a caring home and will receive a good school education and vocational training. In May 2006 the home opened his doors and the first children and a mother moved in. Since July 2009, 16 abandoned children live in the rented house in Mbezi Beach. Three mamas look after them around the clock where one has the overall responsibility.

Since beginning of 2007, 60 children have the chance to attend a kindergarden in the region of Tabora. In August 2008, the construction of a new house has began as well as the Montessori kindergarden. The relocation and the opening of the kindergarden was in January 2010. The new home will have space for at least 20 children. The construction of a school and another home will start spring 2010. With these activities we want to create opportunities for disadvantaged children to ensure them a longterm perspective. Our main focus lies on food, Health, protection, education, self-reliance and independence.

Not all families have the privilege to go on holiday. Children who have had intense medical treatment, are in wheelchairs, have a chronic diseases or live under emotional pressure can hardly go on holiday. For these children the Colombine foundation build the Colominehouse.

Congrex Germany

Nearly a quarter of the South African population is HIV-positive. Two million children have lost their parents through the disease. There are 1.900 new infections every day, and the number of Aids victims has continually risen for the past 15 years. Positive Change. Under this banner, the Hugo Tempelman Foundation supports the holistic approach of Dutch doctor Hugo Tempelman in the fight against HIV and tuberculosis in South Africa.

Ca. 23.000 children with life limiting disorders live in Germany. About 3.000 – 5.000 of them are about to die every year. Most of the children and their family wish to spend most of the time left in their homes and not in a hospital. Life limiting diseased children can not hope for a cure starting with the diagnosis and will die before becoming adults. The Björn Schulz STIFTUNG has been founded to help these children in a professional way to make the rest of their lives as comfortable as it can be.
