Arrival at Arlanda Airport: Local Transportation
Airport coaches leave Arlanda airport (Stockholm's international airport) every 5-10 minutes for the City Terminal in central Stockholm. The bus ride takes approximately 35 minutes and costs SEK 89. (October, 2005)

From Arlanda Airport there is a direct train connection to the Stockholm Central Station. The journey takes about 20 minutes, cost SEK 190 (October, 2005). The train leaves every 15 minutes from Arlanda Airport, and is specially designed with extra space for luggage.

Taxis are available outside the arrival hall at Arlanda airport. Prices may vary considerably, so you are advised to ask for the price before entering the taxi. Many taxi companies offer a fixed price of SEK 350-400 from Arlanda airport to Stockholm city centre and the driver is obliged to give you a printed receipt on request (October, 2005).

Banks and Post Offices
Most banks are open between 09.30 and 15.00 on weekdays. Post Offices are generally open between 09.30 and 18.00 on weekdays and between 10.00 and 13.00 on Saturdays

Climate and Dress
The weather in Stockholm at this time of the year is usually warm and sunny with temperatures between 15-20 C and cool evenings. An umbrella might be useful as showers can occur. Dress will be informal throughout the Symposium.

Currency
The official currency is Swedish Krona (SEK). 1 SEK is divided in 100 are.
1 USD = SEK 7,83. 1 EURO = SEK 9,42 (October, 2005).

Electricity
Electrical current in Sweden is 220 V/50 Hz. Round, European-style two-pin plugs are used. Appliances designed to operate on 110/120 Volts need a voltage converter and a plug adapter.

Language
The symposium language is English.

Lectures and Posters
Depending on the number of contributions, either all papers or a selection will be presented orally. In the latter case there will also be posters. Furthermore, we will have invited speakers addressing key topics.

Passport and Visa
Participants are advised to make their own arrangements with respect to entering Sweden. Please note that if you wish to participate in a tour outside Sweden, you may need a multiple entry visa to Sweden.

Time Zone
The time zone in Stockholm is GMT + 1 hour. Daylight Saving Time is used during the summer.

VAT Refund Conditions
Swedish VAT, currently between 6% and 25% may be repaid to foreign enterprises, except banks and insurance companies, or companies providing health care or education.
