BANKS AND POST OFFICES Business hours
differ between banks. Most banks are open from Monday to Friday between
08.00 – 12.30 and again 13.30 – 15.30. Certain banks remain open until
17.30 on Thursdays. On weekends banks are closed.
Business hours are mainly 09.30 – 20.00.
Cash machines are available in the Congress Centre.
Regular post offices are open from Monday to Friday 08.00 – 18.00.
BUSINESS CENTRE
The Business Centre is located in the main foyer, ground floor. There
is a
photocopier, fax and stations for personal laptops with access to the
Internet at your disposal.
CATERING
Several cash bars and cafeterias are available within the ICM. In the
exhibition area there will be a Bavarian "Biergarten" where
all delegates can
buy food and drinks.
CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE
All attending delegates receive a Certificate of Attendance in the Congress Bag.
CLIMATE AND DRESS
The weather in Munich in June is usually sunny with a day temperature of 18-27°C. Showers may occur. Dress will be informal throughout the Congress.
CME CREDITS
We are pleased to announce
that the EAACI and the WAO will offer
Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits for attending the World Allergy
Congress in Munich. The goal of a CME system is to assure a high level
of
theoretic and clinical competence throughout the working life of medical
specialists. The EAACI Accreditation Committee is the body responsible
for
credit evaluations of EAACI events and establishes the amount of credits
available. The European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) accreditation
body, EACCME, will be responsible for validations of European Credits.
This is
particularly useful in countries where no CME system is available.
Through a reciprocity agreement signed in 1999 and renewed until 2006
by the American Medical Association (AMA) and the UEMS, EACCME credits
will be available to U.S. doctors. Doctors from the US who wish to receive
ACCME
accreditation will need to convert their European CME credits by contacting
Marilyn Maldonada at the AMA, telephone 800-621-8335 or 312-464-
4941. US doctors do not automatically earn CME credits unless they contact
the AMA upon their return.
The EAACI CME Accreditation Committee guarantees that the CME
accredited programmes meet high scientific and educational standards,
that they are free from industry influence and that they meet reciprocity
guidelines with the U.S. System.
The WAC 2005 in Munich has been assigned 30 CME Credits for the Congress
in full. Participants will receive detailed information and instruction
on how to apply for CME credits in their Congress bags.

COFFEE BREAKS AND MEALS
Coffee/tea is included in the registration fee and will be served daily
in the
exhibition areas. Lunches are not included but sandwiches are offered
during lunch hour on Monday 27 June, Wednesday 29 June and Thursday 30
June by Astellas pharma europe to the visitors of the poster exhibition.

The local currency is EUR. EUR 1 = USD 1.23

DGAI MEMBERSHIP
Contact the DGAI booth in the village of national societies for further
information if you want to join and become a member of the German
Society for Allergology and Clinical Immunology (Deutsche Gesellschaft
für
Allergologie und Klinische Immunologie DGAI). DGAI offers support for
young
researchers to travel to congresses as well as to organise small meetings
of
working groups. For students and residents the first three years of
membership are free. You will receive the official journal of the DGAI
“Allergo-Journal” and have reduced registration fees at the
German allergy
congresses.

EAACI AND WAO EXHIBITS
Visit the EAACI and WAO booths in the registration area on the ground
floor of the ICM.
In the EAACI National Society Village member societies will promote their
societies and upcoming meetings as well as the EAACI Congresses in 2006
and 2007. Other displays will include World Allergy Day, World Allergy
Congress 2007, Interasma, and WAO Member Societies bidding on the 2011
Congress.
EAACI MEMBERSHIP
The EAACI stand is located between the Registration area and the National
Society Village. If you have questions regarding membership in EAACI that
need to be answered or you simply want to settle your fee, then come by
and have your questions answered by Deirdre Öwerström or Chelsin
Ledesma from the Executive Office. If you would like to become a member
in EAACI then we can assist you with your application at the stand. Membership
applications can be processed directly at the stand so that you can proudly
wear your EAACI membership pin during the Congress. This year, as in previous
years, we are allocating some seating space to our members so that they
can relax during the Congress. Members can also keep up to date with their
e-mails by using the specially designated computers for the use of our
members only. Samples of EAACI publications will be on display for your
perusal as well as information on our future meetings and courses. We
have also designated a special area for our Junior Members where a Junior
Member Representative will be available to answer questions about JM activities.

ELECTRICITY
The voltage in Germany is 220 volts. Round European style two-pin plugs are used. Appliances designed to operate on 110/120V need a voltage converter and a plug adapter for two-prong, round-prong plugs with side grounding contacts.
EXHIBITION
The WAC 2005 Congress includes a commercial exhibition taking place in
hall C1 from 27 June to 30 June. Opening hours: 09.00-17.00.

JUNIOR ACTIVITIES
A warm welcome
awaits young investigators and allergists at the World Allergy Congress
in Munich. In order to meet the needs and wishes of our younger participants,
we have arranged travel grants, low registration fees and a special budget-friendly
hotel reserved for junior members (see also information about EAACI travel
grants). The Juniors' Hotel concept allows junior members to meet more
easily and to arrange social activities as well as facilitating shared
transport arrangements. The Junior Poster Event will be held on the opening
evening of the Congress in parallel with the Opening Ceremony and the
Welcome Reception. This session is aimed to promote the work of young
investigators in an informal atmosphere, where contacts with senior experts
as well as young fellow investigators are encouraged and facilitated.
Poster prizes will be awarded for outstanding poster presentations in
each category. Do not forget to tick the box to indicate your interest
to participate in the Junior Poster Event when submitting your abstract.
The Junior Poster Event is followed by a free social event for all under-35s
attending the congress, at a Bavarian pub with a buffet and dance. On
Thursday we will have the Junior Member Symposium "Allergy: nature or
nurture?" - this session contains the latest data presented by junior
and senior scientists, on a programme chosen by the EAACI junior member
working group. One of the Free Communication sessions will be entirely
dedicated to the five best junior abstracts. We will also have a junior
researchers' educational session on "Biostatistics:What you should (not)
do!", with experienced speakers and plenty of time set aside for questions
and discussion. For EAACI junior members and associates, we will have
the usual JM Business meeting where topics of particular importance for
us will be discussed and current activities reported. Finally there will
be a JM corner in congress centre, where all young investigators are warmly

MED-ALL-YOUNG
A programme for medical students interested in allergy For medical students
with an interest in allergy the Munich Society for Fostering Research
and Education in Allergology and Dermatology (“Verein zur Förderung
der Forschung und Fortbildung auf dem Gebiet der Allergology und Dermatologie
e.V.”) together with the German Society for Allergology and Clinical
Immunology (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Allergologie und Klinische
Immunologie DGAI) will support a programme for medical students not yet
directly involved in allergology but with an interest in allergy.
The students will have free access to the Congress on Monday 27 June,
where they will be guided by active congress participants through several
sessions and the poster exhibition. They are also invited to join the
Opening
Ceremony and the Welcome Reception. This programme will be organised by:
Kilian Eyerich, Stefanie Förster and Stefanie Lubitz at ZAUM –
Center for
Allergy and Environment, Technical University Munich.

PROGRAMME NAVIGATOR
The Congrex
Abstract System offers the Congress delegates a way to view the Scientific
Programme and to plan for their participation in advance. This service
has been highly appreciated among delegates for the last years. Using
this Internet-based service - Programme Navigator - participants can search
for invited speakers, abstract authors, word in lecture titles, sessions
and easily find and select the presentations of interest. The result of
the selection is the Personal Planner, which can be viewed and printed
by the delegate. The Personal Planner is an agenda for the Congress, specifying
date, time, location and presentation title for the selected presentations.

TOURIST INFORMATION

Office desk in the registration area and in your hotel will be glad to

TRANSPORTATION
The official Congress
badge (please see logo and text on the back of the badge) will serve as
a pass entitling you to free use of the Munich public transportation system
(MVV).
To the ICM International Congress Centre:
From the inner city It takes approximately 20 minutes to travel from downtown
Munich to the ICM on the underground line U2. Stop at Messestadt West.
From the Airport:
It takes approximately 30 minutes to get from the Munich Airport to the
ICM. By taxi the cost should be around EUR 50,00.
You can also take the train S8 to Ostbahnhof (direction Maisach/Nannhofen),
change into the underground U5 to Innsbrucker Ring (direction Laimer Platz)
and finally change into underground U2 to Messestadt West (direction Messestadt-Ost).
This takes about 35 minutes.
From the highway
The ICM is located in direct connection with the A94 motorway, the ring
road
around Munich.When travelling on the A94, exit München-Riem or Feldkirchen
West. ICM is then indicated on signboards, which also indicate the route
to the Car Park West.
TRAVEL GRANTS
EAACI and WAO have
awarded a total of 140 travel grants and DGAI 20 travel grants.
EAACI Travel Grants for EAACI Junior Members and Affiliate Junior Members
(JMAs) based in Europe (including Turkey and CIS).
WAO Travel Grants for presenting authors aged 35 or under who are
based outside Europe, Turkey or the CIS and are not EAACI members, but
belong to a WAO Member Society located outside Europe. Those who have
been awarded a Travel Grant will receive free registration to the Congress,
shared accommodation in a twin-bedded room (up to 4 nights) and travel
costs refunded up to 500 EUR (EAACI Travel Grant) or up to 700 EUR
(WAO Travel Grant). Hotels for juniors and fellows have been arranged
to
facilitate social contacts and the use of common transports.
DGAI Travel Grants include free registration and travel costs refunded
up to 500 EUR.
Travel costs will be refunded on site at the Congress, upon presentation
of
your original ticket and travel receipts.

Regional Allergy Societies. As such, all individual members of dues-paying
